It Will Take A Long Time
Title
It Will Take A Long Time
Description
A Havana correspondent to Charlotte News has the following:
Sergeant Deaton, of Company L., is still working on his discharge. His first application was presented last August in Jacksonville. He is as much in the dark at present as at that time. He wants some one to tell him how long it will take for a regiment to get out of service at the rate his discharge is going.
Sergeant Deaton, of Company L., is still working on his discharge. His first application was presented last August in Jacksonville. He is as much in the dark at present as at that time. He wants some one to tell him how long it will take for a regiment to get out of service at the rate his discharge is going.
Deaton is the author of many of the other newspaper articles covering the day to day lives of the North Carolina soldiers. This article begins to demonstrate how, as the chance to do battle faded away, the motivation of the troops collapsed, as there was little glory to be had in garrison.
